Darwin

Just read a section of Charles Darwin’s autobiography in a collection edited by Christopher Hitchens. It’s reproduced here. A very interesting read, the last sentence sums up the attitude of a man who’s religious tendencies had slowly been fading but for whom there was still mystery in the universe:

The mystery of the beginning of all things is insoluble by us; and I for one must be content to remain an Agnostic.
